What we fix
Common GE washer problems
Tell us which of these sounds like yours — the technician arrives with the right parts.
Won't spin
GE top-loaders won't spin with the lid up. After that: an unbalanced load, the lid switch, a speed sensor or a drive part.
Flashing spin light or UE
The load is out of balance. Spread it out, don't fill past the balance ring, and check the washer is level.
Not filling (IE)
Water isn't getting in — supply valves, kinked hoses, then the inlet valve.
dE — lid open
The washer reads the lid as open. A damaged lid switch or magnet stops it even with the lid closed.
Not draining
A kinked drain hose, a clogged pump or a blocked standpipe in an old building.
Leaking
Hose connections, a tub seal or a stuck inlet valve. FE on some models means water at a critical level — turn off water and power.
Stacked GE laundry
Stacked GE units: we fix them in place
GE's 24" and 27" stacked washer-dryers are a classic NYC apartment setup. A recent job: a stacked GE that stopped spinning — the speed sensor had failed, and replacing it brought the spin cycle back.

Questions
GE washer repair FAQ
How much does GE washer repair cost in NYC?
Most GE washer repairs are $270–$360 with parts and labor. The diagnostic is $100, credited in full if you go ahead. You get the price before work starts.
Why won't my GE washer spin?
First, GE top-loaders don't spin with the lid up — close it fully. Full-size models can also pause for up to a few minutes before the spin. If the spin light flashes, redistribute the load. If the motor runs and water drains but the tub won't spin, that's a service call — often the lid switch, a speed sensor or a drive part.
Do you repair stacked GE washer-dryers?
Yes. Stacked and unitized GE laundry is common in NYC apartments, and we repair both halves on site.
Are you GE Appliances service?
No. Sprocket is an independent repair service, not authorized by or affiliated with GE Appliances. Under the manufacturer's warranty, use their service. Out of warranty, we repair GE washers with our own 90-day warranty.
Do you fix GE dishwashers too?
Yes — see our GE dishwasher repair page. Same $100 diagnostic, credited in full.
Can you come the same day?
In most cases, yes — same-day visits across Manhattan below 110th, Brooklyn and Queens.
